I've finished the bookcase! All books are in, painted and I added the final touch - a dusting of talcum powder to make them look old, worn and dusty.
I also twisted up a wire ladder which I then covered in mod roc (see left). This is now also painted up and ready to star in a film!
 
I've started work on the bookshelf that the librarian is seen selecting books off of in the first shot. I will also use this in the background of other shots to instill the sense that it is a library.

Working in a jewellery shop is pretty handy when there are a lot of unwanted boxes lying around that I can recycle into bookshelves for my film!
I then covered these boxes in mod roc to harden the whole thing.
After my tutorial on the set it was suggested that I try making books out of cardboard and once painted cover them in a layer of PVA glue so that it gives them a leathery shine effect. I also thought I could add bits of string running along a few of them to give the effect of the ridges on old leather bound books.
